Has anyone done business with Tom Woodford on The Samba website/forum? I was looking to purchase his set of factory service manuals and parts catalogues. I made him an offer to sell the service manuals and the parts catalogues separate from the other books he listed. All I did was ask him for more current photos that what he had up on the website to show proof of them still being around the photos on the ad showed 2018. His response was less than professional to me. Just wondering if others had similar experiences with this person. I just didn't want to get scammed by someone especially for the amount that I offered.

If he posted images, do a google search on them to see if they have been used before, somewhere else.

I know Tom and have had in person dealings with him. His prices are usually very high. I think there is still a NOS set for sale in the classified. Did you know you can down load them for free?

Bruce thank you for confirming that the person was legitimate. He wanted 1500 for the complete set, parts catalogues (two volumes), and two weber carburetor books. I offered a lower price which he was okay with. But he was not too happy that I asked for current photos of what he posted so I could confirm that he still did have them which in my opinion is not too much to ask for when one is about to spend a decent chunk of money. I do know that I could download them for free but sometimes it's nice to have the hard copy right next to you. I will most likely keep looking.

Yes his prices are up there but these parts always appear good but some basic parts are over the moon , has huge amount of FS on Samba and a good rep ? ,seems to be more focused on 911 stuff ,perhaps Bruce can add more in this discussion.

Tom sold me a vin swapped car back in the 80’s when he owned a Porsche shop in Tabernacle NJ. Caranza racing and restoration. Many stories came from that shop. Customer cars disappearing but then seen on midnight runs. Buildings burning down for insurance money, etc. If you do buy from him, be careful about sending money and hoping you get the product.

I still have the car. ‘74 vin in an early chassis. I was 16 so didn’t know it back then. I’m over it now but I sure won’t be buying anything from the guy.

I've decided against buying from him after the scathing response email that he sent me. I'd rather not deal with someone that goes off their rocker when all I asked for was current photos of what they are selling. According to his samba profile he's in AZ now.

If they are that fussed about it, I would move on. Most people here would not act that way.

Yea, he fled NJ decades ago. Cozied up to Wayne Dempsey for a while and sold him the red stripe 914-6gt that he obtained under suspicious circumstances.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) wow very suspect ,he seems to portray himself as a bit of a legend ...but in his own mind (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) ,I don't know how Samba deal with bad sellers as never have had to find out ,my dealing with sellers on there have been great in the past .
